Kite-flying festival

The weather was very fine today. We went to the kite-flying festival. It is the traditional festival in my city and well known in Japan. It was held in a dry river-bed.There were so many people from all around Japan and other countries.
Our students group was introduced in front of the audience.
My international society president also made a short speech to the audience.

At first we had to register to pull a rope. The kite is very large. It means that it measures100 pieces of Japanese tatami. This size is amzing!

We had some free time, so I went to another place with K-san and O-san. Other foreign students enjoyed going around there. K-san suggested for me to eat bamboo. I have never tried to eat such a delicous food like this.

About 100 people applied to pull the rope.At first they failed because there was no wind.Other audience members were supporting and watching. They tried again. The big Kite was flying in the sky.It was so nice. This is my first time attending.

I enjoyed watching Kite-flying festival.I was able to get to know some people! It is a lot of fun for me.

host family's day

The weather was very fine today. We went to Kyoto (Nagaokakyo-City). At first we visited my parents' house and ate lunch. My mom made some delicious rice balls for us. After that, we went to "Nagaoka Tenmanguu shrine, it is said that this shrine is the god of learning. There were not so many people because this is the normal season now. There was a large pond and there were many carps and turtles. It was a nice view. There was a Japanese traditional restaurant which is named "Kinsuitei." My mom told me that this is used as a drama many times. The other day, the Japanese emperor came. It is not very popular, but it is known as a good place.

After we came back to my mom's house, we returned to my city by using highway. It was a little crowded.
When we came back home, I noticed that it was colder than Kyoto. My mother in law cooked delicous dinner for us.We enjoyed eating dinner! My students are both vegetarian.I enjoy eating vegetable recipe.
They took so many pictures. I enjoyed today very much.

New toilet

The toilet remodelling has finished. This is our new Japanese toilet. It automatically opens and closes.I have not yet gotten used to use it. My house is very old, so its space is a different world, I think. I have put in many decorations.

We asked this remodelling company.

My pet cat chii

"Chii" is my pet cat. He is about 4 years old. One day, I happened to get information
that there were many homeless cats near my house. At that time my family was very
sad and dissappointed because our pet cats died because of traffic accidents.
We wanted a new cat. We went to the next town and tried to catch a kitten.
Chii was the smallest kitten, like a mouse. Chiisai means small in Japanese,so we called him Chii.

At first we had a plan to take care of him outside, but we changed the plan and we decided to take care of him inside the house because outside is very dangerous as we know.

After that we had many troubles because Chii had too many accidents in my house.
That was because he had not been fixed, and many other homeless cats often came to my garden in front of my house, and he had much stress, and so on.

Recently he has calmed down. He is a spoiled child. He always tries to sit down on our knees. When I use my computer, he interrupts me and sits on the PC. He is our precious pet cat!

This is my first diary

I am a Japanese woman. I decided to write my diary in English. I am so excited! Since last Sunday I have been hosting 2 American students. I am enjoying spending time with them.My task is to prepare the breakfast and dinner,to take them to the station(or city hall) and pick them up and so on. We sometimes go to the supermarket after daily class. After my daughter comes  back home, we eat dinner together and have a chat. We have 5 days left until next Monday. I hope to have a lot of fun!
